Outmore is a health and wellness app designed to encourage users to get outside. Using gamification, the app gives daily challenges to help users achieve their outdoor activity goals.
This project was my final university project and was paired with my dissertation, which explored ethical design, specifically the use of manipulative design and dark patterns—a heavily debated topic in the design industry since 2010.
Outmore experiments with whether certain “dark patterns” can be applied for positive outcomes, rather than for exploitative personal gain, through careful consideration of user experience, user interface, and gamification design.
